Welcome to Trinity Academy’s best-kept secret.
The Society.
You’ve been handpicked by the elite of the elite to become a member. But first you’ll have to prove your worth by making it through Hell Week.
Do you have what it takes?
It’s time to find out.

Samantha Evans knows she’d never get an invite to rush the Society—not after her dad went to jail for insider trading. But after years of relentless bullying at the hands of the Society’s queen bee, Jessica, she’s ready to take down Jessica and the Society one peg at a time from the inside out.

All it’ll take is a bit of computer hacking, a few fake invitations, some eager rushees…and Sam will get her revenge.

Let the games begin.

I had mixed emotions about this book. Centered around revenge. Some high school drama. A well resolved ending.

I'm not a big fan of high school drama. Many times I get annoyed, pissed off with all the bad decisions they make. Many times they seem very unreasonable. And The Society carries a bit of that. But in an all honest opinion, The Society redeemed itself for me. Now let talk about that, friends :)

The Society centers its plot around revenge. It didn't sit right with me first but as I read on, Sam's realizations felt completely right for me.

Sam simply can't take Jessica's bullying. They were best friends for years. One day Sam's father was sent to jail. Jessica played a role in it. Jessica helped expose Sam's father. Sam has nothing to do with it. But then, why does Jessica thinks she needs to make Sam's life miserable? High school drama? Check yes, my friends. This is full of it. And Sam's decisions to take revenge just doubles the trouble.

It didn't matter what anybody said, just about every high schooler craves validation in one way or another, and initiation into the Society screamed, "You matter, you're worthy!" -loc595, eARC

I like the concept of the Society. It gave the story its unique touch. It was Sam's way of carrying her revenge plan. It was the same thing that brought Sam's plans down. It was also the reason why Sam had a fall out with her best friend, Jeremy. It was also the reason Sam realized a lot of things.

If you completely don't like high school drama, I suggest you don't delve into this one. It's a revenge plot with lots of wrong decisions and failures. As I said, it didn't sit right to me at first. I hated the revenge plot but I do see Sam's point. She felt that doing some sort for revenge is her last resort since she did everything she could. A few times, I felt a bit sorry for Sam for her bad decisions (which by the way made me scream at her a lot of times). But I forgive her :)

Sam's moment of realization was really great. It completely made the book for me. I like her change of heart. It didn't just go poof! I changed my mind, let me try and take everything back. It was more of everything's done. I don't think what I'm doing is right. Then the storm comes. Sam saw the wrong things she's done. Her change of heart actually came out smoothly and I love how it was done. The ending was really great.

The real measure of friendship is being there for each other through them, and loving each other anyway. Anyone can be there through the easy times; you know it's real if someone is still there after it all crashes down. -loc3923, eARC

Have I also mentioned the romance? Sam and Jeremy were simply adorable! Their relationship was well established. It's obvious from the beginning that Jeremy has feelings for Sam and I've been waiting for them to happen since the beginning. He;s always there for her despite everything she has done. Oh-so nice and sweet Jeremy who's there through thick and thin. Then we meet this mysterious guy named Ransom who tries to get into Sam's life which in return Sam takes an opportunity to get away from everyone who knows he father. Ransom vs Jeremy? Mysterious guy vs long time best friend.

OVERALL, The Society was a good read. I don't think it's for everyone but if you're up for a contemporary read set in high school, I'd say you go pick this up (unless you hate high school drama && wrong life decisions). The Society has a faulty main character (but who doesn't make bad decisions, right?) but she gets up from it, learns the hard way, and accepts everything thrown at her eventually. She's strong in her own way and I like her the way she is and what she has become. It's a nice read but may not exactly be for everyone :)
